The transnational group exhibition Diversity United. Contemporary European Art premieres at Tempelhof Airport in Berlin and will subsequently travel to various European museums. The show is comprised of works expressing the strength and variety of Europe’s cultural efforts and emphasises the significance of a unified continent in times of political uncertainty.
This exploration of contemporary art after the fall of the Iron Curtain highlights the importance of a cross-cultural dialogue, themes such as freedom, democracy, migration and territory as well as political and personal identity are explored in the show.
This exhibition was realised by the Stiftung für Kunst und Kultur in Bonn. Walter Smerling, chairman of the foundation and initiator of the project: “The exhibition can be understood as a commentary on our present time and asks questions about the desired and the real state of freedom, dignity and respect. It has the power to surprise us with visionary, poetic works and illustrates the creative facets of Europe in all their incredible diversity.”
