PERFORMING HISTORY. Postcolonial Memory and Identity in Contemporary Art

The times in which world art was primarily understood as white art, while positions from the global south were largely excluded from the Olympus of the White Cube, are over. There is no neutral European view of history. Diversity and inclusion means a program for the entire population and the commitment to an open and dynamic society. Through the genre films, the selected artists deal in a specific way with the decentering and decolonisation of thinking and with the movement between different identities and realities of life. The exhibition brings together internationally outstanding artistic positions that combine postcolonial criticism and hybridity in convincing filmic representations to create a different story.
