The World Reimagined is a ground-breaking, national art education project to transform how the Transatlantic Slave Trade is understood and its lasting impact on all of us.
The World Reimagined Launches Across the UK
More Than 100 Large-Scale Globes Explore the History and Legacy of the Transatlantic Slave Trade
August - October 2022

More than 100 large-scale globes will be installed in several cities across the UK from August to October 2022, each bearing the commentary of artists and creatives both on the slave trade, as well as their past, present and future relationships with Britain.
The World Reimagined’s founding artist Yinka Shonibare CBE, conceptualised the idea of a reimagined world visualised as a globe. “With art, you can explore a multiplicity of dimensions – it takes in culture, history and debate. I think it’s a great platform to actually engage the public as well, because people do tend to pay more attention than they would if you had just said something. So, it seems to me to be the perfect vehicle to express an important issue like this.” - Yinka Shonibare.
