The Piccadilly Art Takeover, a public art initiative by the Royal Academy of Arts in partnership with Art of London, celebrates art and culture with a focus on the accessibility of public art and turns the West End into a gallery without walls.
The area around Piccadilly has been transformed with canvases, zebra crossings, and a 720 square-metre film and daily videos. Yinka Shonibare CBE's Anteros, 2021, a hanging canvas which features the Greek God of requited love with a harlequin background motif, can be seen alongside works by leading artists including Vanessa Jackson, Isaac Julien, Farshid Moussavi and Michael Armitage.
