The Frieze Emerging Curators Fellowship in collaboration with Yinka Shonibare CBE and V&A East
A New Initiative Supporting Emerging Black and POC Curators
6 October 2021

Alongside Deutsche Bank funding, the fellowship programme is further supported by proceeds from the sale of an artist-led edition created by Yinka Shonibare CBE. The work is inspired by Shonibare’s recent series of African masks, featuring his signature vibrant Dutch wax batik patterns, exploring the relationship between African aesthetics and western modernist expression.
The sculpture is sold as an edition of 50 and is available for purchase online at Frieze.com and at Frieze Week locations, with 100% of sales proceeds benefiting the fellowship. One edition of the work will be available in a prize draw, registration for the draw is free, with the opportunity to contribute a donation to the fellowship.
